Web Professional Organization Recognizes Web Professionals of the Year
WorldSkills Leipzig, Germany July 5, 2013. WebProfessionals.org a professional association announced its 2013 Web Professional of the Year Award, an honor recognizing those that who have made significant contributions to the advancement of the Web profession and education worldwide. Awards were announced in conjunction with WorldSkills 2013, taking place this week in Leipzig Germany.
“By honoring exceptional Web professionals that contributed to the WorldSkills international competition, the Web Professional of the Year Award shines the spotlight on the role models and sources of inspiration for the next generation of Web professionals considering careers in the Web profession worldwide” said Jeff Boulton, Chief Expert in Web Design.

In making the announcement Bill Cullifer, Webprofessionals.org Executive Director said, “For the sustainability of the Web profession, we must refine our education processes when it comes to Web professional topics, I am proud to be a part of this international initiative to deliver the highest quality and the most affordable Web professional education available.”

The WorldSkills Competition
In 1946 two Spaniards had a vision. José Antonio Elola Olaso and Francisco Albert-Vidal dreamed of an international craft skills competition, a professional-quality championship with participants from all over the world. The first Spanish championships for apprentices were a roaring success in 1947.
In 1950, neighbouring Portugal joins in, and since 1953 more and more countries have taken up the challenge. Morocco, France, United Kingdom, Germany and Switzerland entered teams for the International Vocational Training Contest.
Since 1999 the event has been known as WorldSkills. Initially held annually, it has been held every other year since 1973.
Today, up to 65 countries and regions take part in this mega-event.
