Comedy Central is owned by Viacom. Viacom recently ordered YouTube to remove any copyrighted material. Then it seems they changed their mind and YouTube put the videos back up. Is it possible that Viacom and other giants will all work out deals with video sharing services that are either large enough or popular enough to warrant revenue sharing?
Where will the lines be drawn between original and copyrighted work? Can video artists sample videos to create mashups to distribute online? Rap artists enhance their original content with samples from other songs. Can video artists do the same thing?? The RIAA sues people for simply sharing the end results.? Will the movie and video industry? follow the RIAA or do they have something better to offer??
It must be good to be a copyright attorney in the 21st century.
