Is Litigation Considered Competitive Play?

Question, Who is the European Commission and why should we let them tell us how to run our software companies?

The European Commsion, now follow me here, takes recommendations from the European Committee for Interoperable Systems. This working group is from IBM, Nokia, Oracle, RealNetworks, Sun, Linspire, Opera and Corel and Red Hat.

When Microsoft settled the antitrust lawsuits in the U.S. courts, did the European Commison see dollar signs? The same team that originally sued Microsoft here in the U.S. is now in charge in Europe. None of this is helping kids in those counties get on the Internet and litigation has never made products less buggy. Sueing you competitors didn’t work for Netscape. Maybe the EU should focus a little more on punishing software pirates and a little less time punishing our companies that they are copying.

Final question, Have any software users been hurt by Microsoft’s actions?
