Now that Yahoo, MSN and Google have agreed to use the Sitemap Protocol as part of their official indexing routines, it’s time to get one for your site. By using the sitemap protocol, you can take the guesswork out of search engine optimization. With the Sitemap Protocol, you can build an xml sitemap that tells the search engines about the content on your site. The sitemap.xml file is stored on your server so the search engines have an easier time indexing your content. You’ll get the complete picture once you try it out at Google’s Webmaster Tools.
There’s a little bit of preparation and a couple things you need to know to get this going on your site. So in the next few days, we’ll deliver the necessary steps and links to make this happen.
If you’re already using the Sitemap Protocol with Google, you must be super stoked.
