The Turkish Government is letting their? citizens tune into YouTube.com again after blocking the service.? YouTube removed offending videos exacerbating the situtation and showing a complete lack of ethics themselves. Yeah we know, the people of Turkey will benefit more in the longterm.
Meanwhile Viacom is sueing? YouTube for a billion dollars.?
WebPronews is covering the story and I found a quote from an interview with Google CEO, Eric Schmidt regarding the future of online video and YouTube. In the interview with Bloomberg?€™s Jonathan Thaw, Mr. Schmidt said, “Eventually all of the copyrighted content will be available on virtually all of the sites.”
Eric Schmidt says, “The growth of YouTube, the growth of online, is so fundamental that these companies are going to be forced to work with and in the Internet.”? That’s right Mr. Schmidt and I think the train ride will be very lonely for Viacom after they’ve thrown everyone else off.
This is all about money over ethics so look for Viacom to come out of this richer in the short-term. Also look for their ultimate demise in the long term.
