Web Professional Educator Spotlight: Athir Mahmud

Athir Mahmud, Associate Professor Harold Washington College

This month we would like to feature Athir Mahmud, Associate Professor Department of Computer Information Systems at Harold Washington College located in Chicago, IL for our Web Professional Educator Spotlight.

Professor Mahmud has an extensive Web professional background. She is currently teaching introductory and advanced Web design and Web development including Web standards, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. She also is an Adjunct Professor at DePaul University School of Computing and Digital Media, both in Chicago. She has been using SAM in her classroom since 2003. Athir is currently working toward a PhD in Technical Communication at the Illinois Institute of Technology. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Experimental Psychology and Studio Art from DePaul University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and went on to receive a Master of Science in Computer Science at DePaul University’s School of Computing and Digital Media. Athir is a Certified Microsoft Application Specialist, holds a Certification in Learning and Teaching from Loyola University Chicago, and is a Certified Web Designer Associate through the World Organization of Webmasters. Athir also continues to paint, draw, and write poetry. Her work has been exhibited in numerous shows and has won her local and national recognition.
