Yesterday I mentioned Web 4.0 planning.? A couple people? noticed I skipped over planning for web 3.0. They’re right, I did and we may. Let me explain.
Web 2.0 was built basically when no one was looking. Then BAM, it appeared. The standards came together enough to revitalize the development of ideas that had been lurking for years. The next generation of ideas will need to be built while Web 2.0 is being further developed and tested.
No one knows how long web 2.0 will keep traction.? One thing seems to stick out to me. Inspiration. It seems to me that if people are inspired enough to move to Web 4.0, they will, skipping if necessary a Web 3.0 potentially mired in planning. We didn’t need a lot of planning to build Web 2.0. We knew what we wanted and built it.
When web professionals get the time, the next big thing will be built. Until then, let’s finish Web 2.0.
