In this four minute video Nora Abousteit, co-founder of BurdaStyle.com shares her experiences and advice with taking a traditional print publication online. Previously, Nora worked at a German publishing house in the staff of the owner – writing speeches, organizing workshops, and events. She is part of the founding team of the DLD conference.

She has been invited to share her experience at Picnic, FOO Camp, Parsons School of Design, Stream, the WEF Media Strategy Meeting, and the Menorca TechTalk.

Her work has appeared in the New York Times, Wired, BusinessWeek, WWD, and Fast Company.

    It’s extremely interesting to see individuals make the successful jump from print to the web. In this case it’s injected new energy into a craft that has traditionally been brought to others through either print, word-of-mouth or -mother-to-daughter. It’s also great to know they didn’t get it right the first time out of the shute but actually learned through trial and error! That’s really brave and commendable!

      Thanks Kim. I’m often asked if it’s better to launch your Web presence before or after you have your site perfected. The BurdaStyle.com example and Nora’s account demonstrates a “just do it” strategy that that clearly worked for her and the company. Her follow up comment of “release now and release often” was also telling as is the key walk away in my opinion.
