It includes tutorials that help people learn to use a computer for the first time. It sounds like the perfect match for the One Laptop Per Child project Nicholas Negroponte? is dedicated to making a reality.
Some say Linux should be the operating system. Bill Gates disagrees and has been critical of several aspects of the project.
The OLPC project’s intentions are admirable and one thing is for sure, more credit needs to be given to anyone that starts projects like this. Social, especially socio-economic innovation needs to be applauded and supported.
I’m betting Nicholas Negroponte? and Bill Gates together will ultimately make this happen but they better hurry because I think I have a few fifty dollar desktops that I could mail to some kids without computers, right here in Hawai`i.
