Project Management, Technology Leadership & People Skills on Tap for April, 2008

Greetings WOW Members and Web Professionals everywhere! Bill Cullifer here with the World Organization of Webmasters (WOW) and the WOW Technology Minute.

If you ve been following the WOW blog for a while than you re aware that last month we interviewed a variety of Web professionals ranging from Web designers, developers, Web marketers and of course a few generalist Webmasters as well.

The goal of last months podcast coverage was to assist in better understanding the roles and responsibilities of Web professionals that work for large corporations, web boutiques, independents, higher education and job boards such as Dice.com and those that teach Web professionals.  I enjoyed the interviews very much and I hope that you did as well.

I continue to be impressed just how smart most Web professionals are today and how well balanced their skill sets are.

As you may recall from the interview with Tom Silver from Dice, the stronger you re technical and business acumen skills are and these include project management and people skills, you re more likely you are to be employed and highly compensated.

As a result, I?’m planning to uncover more detail about the specifics of what employers and customers are specifically looking for in these areas for the month of April.  In other words, I am hoping to interview experts in the areas of project management, technology leadership and people skills with the goal in mind of better understanding what is required to be an expert in these areas.

WOW will be participating in three conferences venues this month that will lend itself to conducting some live interviews with some thought leaders in these areas. The events that we have planned include the ISPCON in Chicago, the Web 2.0 event in San Francisco and the International WWW conference in Beijing, CH.  Hope you can join in.

Please send us an e-mail if you have any questions that you d like to ask or if you have any thoughts that you d like to contribute.
