WOW CELEBRATES WEBMASTERS DAY
Designates April 29 as Webmasters?’ Day

WWW2008 Conference Beijing CH, (April 29, 2008) – The non-profit professional association World Organization of Webmasters (WOW) announces support for Webmasters Day in collaboration with business and industry.

WOW is pleased to make the announcement while in Beijing participating in the 17th annual WWW Conference delivering WOW training and certification to the international Web community.

While making the announcement Bill Cullifer, WOW?’s Executive Director had the pleasure of interviewing two notable conference delegates attending the week long conference. Interviews in support of Webmasters Day included podcast with Professor Bebo White, Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) retired and North Americas first technical Webmaster and Professor Martin Gaedke, Faculty of Computer Science, Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany.

Here?’s what they had to say.

I?’m delighted that someone has decided to have Webmasters day to celebrate many of those people who have helped turn the Web into to the phenomena that it is.  One of the most exciting things about coming to this conference is to see the new technologies that shaping the Web in the future. It?’s clear that the Webmasters and the people that are involved with web development have to be able to keep up with to their skills and there area alot of exciting opportunities for the Webmaster and for the Web of the future said Professor White. Webmasters Day sounds to me like the first really big step towards opening up and showing what Webmasters and all of the things that they do in the sense of applying scientific knowledge, applying engineering knowledge and all of those other inter disciplinary stuff to running businesses, to developing applications, to make the connections between business models and technology or between business models of different companies connecting to other companies in many the  different senses available, said Professor Martin Gaedke. Giants of industry also agree. For example, GODaddy.com, (www.godaddy.com) the world’s largest domain name registrar  recently contacted the WOW with the idea seeking our support to make this announcement:

“The Internet wouldn?’t be where it is today without this underappreciated group who keep content on the ‘net fresh,” GoDaddy.com CEO and Founder Bob Parsons said. “I think a day to remind everyone of how vital Webmasters are is way overdue.”

“We think it?’s great that organizations such as GoDaddy.com are recognizing Webmasters for the true professionals that they are.” said Bill Cullifer, Executive Director, World Organization of Webmasters. (WOW) “Webmasters serve their customers with a broad range of skills including strong technical, design, business and project management skills and play a pivotal role in any organizations structure today.”
